Hi! My name is Melissa, and I’m so excited to be joining the Garage Studio Fitness team as a Group Instructor and Personal Trainer!
I have spent the past several years working in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, where I created individualized exercise plans for cardiac and pulmonary patients so that they could safely improve their health through movement. Through this experience, I completed the required hours to become a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional through AACVPR. I am also an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist and hold a degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Washington State University.
My fitness background includes working as a Fitness Director at Camp Canadensis in Pennsylvania—where I worked with all ages and fitness levels—as well as a Personal Trainer and Group Instructor at The Complex in Moses Lake.
My interest for exercise stems from living with Type 1 diabetes, which has played a major role in my health journey. T1DM has taught me firsthand how vital exercise and nutrition are, challenging me to become stronger both physically and mentally. My journey with Type 1 diabetes has shaped my passion for exercise, and I hope to share that passion and encourage others to discover how strong and capable they can be.
